Unlike all the others like Obama, Cameron, Blair and co, they speak from the heart, and soul, right?
Not from the carefully, soullessly, pre-scripted words on the Teleprompter right?

Cue UK Green Party 'leader' Caroline Lucas; she would never 'join the club' and act like any other politician of all other off-the-peg, standard-issue party, looking left and right to read off the Teleprompter screens like all the rest, while waiting for the pre-scripted applause, instead of speaking from the heart and soul without need of a script?

And nor would the Green Party audience respond like all the other choreographed political party 'extras'?

Right?

These are bunches of questions; Let me approach this is my own way.

As to the teleprompter, yes, of course it's scripted; but can you really expect anyone doing public speaking today to simply "wing it?" Of course not, especially in these days of microscopic media scrutiny, when any misstep, however small or innocent, is immediately dissected and shown over and over again on TV and the Internet.

The idea of fresh, unscripted and from the heart might sound appealing; but it's totally unrealistic and actually not even that important.

My father (who taught me to cast a jaundiced gaze at politicians) had a million epithets to describe politicians...

"He's so crooked, he could...

... hide behind a corkscrew without casting a shadow.
... fall into a barrel of pretzels without breaking a one. (and on and on).

The bottom line is, how would you know "real" in the first place?

Remember the words of the French diplomat and dramatist, Jean Giraudoux...

"The secret of success is Sincerity. Once you can fake that you've got it made."

Do I believe that the Green Party represents me?

I laugh at the prospect. I don't think ANY political party represents me. All politics grows out of factional desires for power and privilege. This isn't a good or bad thing -- it's human nature, which is why Aristotle defined man as a "Political Animal."

The fallacy of democracy is that people are smart enough to know the truth when they see it. Of course, this is a tragic falsehood. Hence, in order to gain support, all political parties must maintain at least the illusion of representing the "people" (whoever they really are), while they represent the wants, needs and desires of their constituent bases (whoever they really are).

The result is that hypocrisy is inherent in the process itself. This is why I always have to laugh (or cry) at those who take what these people say seriously. It's also the reason I find the study of politics so endlessly fascinating. It's the greatest soap opera ever made -- it's got everything: Sex, violence, money, power, lies, corruption, hypocrisy -- honestly, who could ask for more.

If I'm correct, then asking for "from the heart" honesty from ANY politican is like asking for chastity from a Hooker.

Your relentless search for the "ideal" makes me wonder if you're really Scottish. Good Scots like David Hume and Adam Smith would tell you to reject the ideal, not lament people's inability to achieve it, and instead to have a good laugh at The Greatest Show On Earth.
