Need help building a computer mainly used for music production.?
Ok so iv decided to build a (budget) computer for making music. I will use is for creating electronic music, and probably in the future recording real instruments.
I will be using
Cue base (recording with microphones through a Tascam usb interface)
FL studio/Reason (Using my midi controller with various VSTi's)
Duel monitors I have a nvidia 7300gs which im using for this with my current computer.
This is what i plan to use so far
Intel Core 2 Duo E7400, 2.93GHz, 64Bit, 1066FSB, LGA775, 3MB Cache, BX80571E7500
Intel DG41TY, 1333FSB, DDR2, PCI-E x16, LAN, SATA, Snd, 2xPCI, 1x PCI-e
Kingston 2GB PC6400 DDR2 RAM SO-DIMM KVR800D2S5/2G maybe 2 of these
Delta GPS-350EN 350W ATX 12V V2.0 24+4Pin Power supply
I have a case and hdd i can use
Any suggestions would be great thanks
Are you kidding me? This build is utter crap!
For one, SO-DIMMs are for laptops. They won't fit in a desktop board.
350W is garbage. Get a minimum of 450w, and don't skimp with a cheap crap brand.
Avoid socket 775 if you can. It's at the end of it's life cycle. Intel will be releasing new chips in the first half of January for socket 1156, which will be much longer-lived. Wait and see what they get.
Intel logic boards are usually meh quality at a not-too-good price anyway.
You will NEED Firewire if you want to do any serious audio recording/external mixing. DO NOT USE USB FOR SERIOUS RECORDING. USB is garbage.

US $21.99
